YY is the creative practice of Francisco Gaspar and Tawanda Chiweshe, known for their work at ALASKA ALASKA, which they led with mentor and collaborator Virgil Abloh since 2017, shaping projects that defined a generation’s visual and cultural logic across partners including IKEA, Mercedes-Maybach, Vitra and WhatsApp.
Opening between order, chaos and contradiction, YY treats outcomes as ideas rather than products.
Moving between concept, framework, design, and form, they reframe culture through language and material. Their projects become logic rewritten, where they use “prototyping” both as a methodology and a philosophy, allowing them to move fluidly across disciplines to create work that speaks for itself and challenges what’s expected, treating design as an act of translation.
